Pen parts are generally plated with precious metals. One of the key concerns with plated parts is wear. I use the best platings available on the market to create pens that will last their owners many years. The various platings are explained in detail below.
CHROME - An extremely durable plating that needs very little introduction. Under normal use this plating should hold up for many years.
SATIN COPPER - A special plating process that produces a matte-like finish that features a slight texture that looks and feels great. This popular plating offers a unique alternative to traditional plating and is guaranteed to provide years of enjoyment.
BRIGHT COPPER - This bright pure copper plating will give your pen a unique, one-of-a-kind look. This finish offers fabulous contrast and style when combined with darker woods.
BLACK TITANIUM - This is a titanium oxide molecularly bonded (PVD) process. This plating is unbelievably hard and durable. Black Titanium changes its appearance depending on the light conditions - it can look like gun metal gray, nearly black, or silvery.
GOLD TITANIUM - Titanium plating produces an extremely durable finish. The process uses what is called PVD (physical vapor deposition). Titanium nitride matched to the color of the gold is molecularly bonded to the part and the 24K gold is bonded (sputtered) on the parts to achieve a color match to the other gold parts. The parts are again replated after this step. The final result is that the parts will virtually never show wear.
PLATINUM - Esteemed in the jewelry industry as the premium precious metal for expensive jewelry. Our supplier uses real platinum and it should be expected to hold up under normal use for many years.
RHODIUM - Part of the Platinum group in the periodic table of elements and closely related to it in appearance. It is heavily used in the jewelry trade, and extremely durable.
STERLING SILVER - The parts receive a restaurant grade 20 micron plating to ensure the beauty lasts for many, many years.
